I took this photo as I was travelling with my family around Wellington, and I broke off from the group for a bit to snap this beauty!Time
This was taken on roughly the middle of the day, where the heat was too much, I had to stand in the shadows just to avoid getting sunburnt! I took this photo on Tuesday, 23rd March 2016, at 1:34pm.Lighting
I wanted to try and convey lighting over a distance, with interruptions at regular intervals, to show that although the light may shine brightly in your life right now, it's always followed by periods of shadow.Equipment
I used my good ol' fashioned Samsung Galaxy S3 with no special filters or anything! What you see in the photo is what the camera is gifted with.Inspiration
What inspired me to take this photo was that, although I feel my life is great at the moment, I find that it's followed by regular intervals of depression, and I find that the columns help portray this as they are 'blocking the light' from reaching me as they stretch out into the distance.Editing
Unfortunately I haven't done any post-processing. I like to keep my photos as natural as possible, to help bring out the authenticity of the image. In my camera bag
I usually just carry my Samsung Galaxy S3 with me, although I have moved on to the more recent Huawei P9 Plus, with the Leica Dual camera. But I don't carry any lenses or tripods with me as I prefer to travel lightFeedback
Definitely try to convey distance when taking day time photographs, they help 'wow' the audience a bit more I find. Also, try and add a little 'unusual-ity' (I don't know if that's even a word!) to your photos to give them your own personality and meaning. And most importantly, don't be afraid to experiment!
