Location
This photo was taken in my backyard after the rain. A simple rain drop on a blade of grass.Time
Late afternoon is my favorite time to shoot, but overcast and rainy days have great light too. This photo was taken late afternoon after the rain.Lighting
Light low in the sky works best with macro photography, too bright and it washes out details. I don't use a flash or any artificial lighting, so I rely 100% on the sun being my lighting.Equipment
iPhone 6s and a 15x macro lensInspiration
I am a self taught iPhone macro photographer who loves the rain. When shooting rain drops I look for the light and the way the drop refracts that light, a closer look into the drop can sometimes reveal what is out of focus in the backdrop. In this picture the drop reveals a clearing sky and sun poking through the clouds, that sunlight shining bright through the bottom of the drop. Feels like a little peek into another world when I can focus into something so small.Editing
Not much, very basic adjustments to color, sharpness, and cropping. In my camera bag

Look for drops and notice the way they cling to grasses, leaves, or flower petals. Some foliage will allow for a perfectly round drop, some the drop will flatten out. I prefer a round drop because of the way the light bends through it. Focus into the drop, there's a lot to play with when it comes to the way the drop refracts the light and background. No rain? Dewy and foggy mornings work well too, and if you still can't find water drops just turn on soem sprinklers!
