Location
This photo was taken at the balcony of our house. I take pictures anywhere whenever I like it.Time
It was in the middle of the day. This was a campaign period during the election time and we were waiting for the political candidates to pass by our house. I thought of taking pictures of those candidates when I saw my father in-law enjoying puffing his cigarette and that gave me the idea of taking this photo.Lighting
I wanted this photo to be full of emotions. The sun was high during this time but there is a big tree that serves as a shade in our balcony so I didn't have any problems the photo will turn out over exposed.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3300 with a Nikkor 70-300mm lens and just used the camera's flash.Inspiration
Since I am a beginner of photography and everytime I see long exposure shots , I am super amazed with it. Hence, I decided to practice long exposure shots whenever I can and I think smoke is a perfect subject to practice.Editing
I just did simple post editing on adobe lightroom. I converted the image into black and white and did a bit of noise reduction because the noise was quite visible probably because this was taken handheld. In my camera bag
Since I only have two lenses for now my kit lens and my 70-300mm nikkor lens, I always have them both but most of the time I use the latter. I also have my external flash in my bag just in case the natural lighting isn't enough.Feedback
Always take the shot! If you are positive of your subject go for it. Much better if you have a tripod in capturing this kind of photo to avoid noise but if you don't have one in handy, try your best to keep still. I read somewhere to hold your breathe for a while when capturing long exposure shots if you don't have a tripod. I have done it with moving water and I think it worked! Just don't forget to breathe again. LOL! Kidding ;)
