Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in my garden on a very sunny day.Snoopy the guinea pig would only like to go outside in the garden if I brought a snack.I put her on the boardwalk and took a low standpoint to see her lovely little face.

Time

I think it was during the afternoon, I placed Snoopy in the sunlight with her favorite snack cucumber.

Lighting

I wanted to create a photo where part of her face was in the light of the sun and one in the shadow. So I had to put her on the good spot and reached out for the snack to keep her there.

Equipment

I used my Canon powershot G11 , I have not used flash because the sun was very bright. My exif was 6.1mm - ƒ/4 -1/400s -ISO 100

Inspiration

I always like the tiny mouth of my guinea pig and wanted to make a picture of it. But its very hard, because she moves constantly :) So I put out the cucumber and gave it a shot. Sadly I must say that guinea pig Snoopy has past away some years after this photo was taken.Thats also the beauty of photography, you can keep the memories more alive :)

Editing

Only some sharpness and a little enchancing the colours, but I did not much to enhance the photo.

In my camera bag

This photo is taken in 2014, back then I had my Canon powershot G11, but these days I have an upgrade , a Nikon D800. With that Nikon D800 I have a macro 60mm lens and a 70-300mm. Those I use the most.

Feedback

Its very hard to keep guinea pigs sitting still in the picture when they are outside, they are programmed to run away when they see anything move. So be carefull and only try this when you are sure the piggy will stay by your side. Otherwsie build a little fench at the back of the piggy to avoid she runs away to far.And a favourite snack is always a good idea to keep her happy :)
