Location
The photo was taken on Ameland, an island near the Netherlands. At the side of the island where you have the "Northsea".Time
It was our first evening on Ameland and we made ourselfs ready for a walk on the beach. I brought my canon Powershot G11, a birthday present from my parents. We where hoping for a beautifull sunset, and look what we got. From all the evenings on the beach this was the most stunning one.Lighting
The lightning is all created by nature, so not much to say about that. I did not put the ISO very high because I wanted it to be a little dark so the sunrays would be more visible.Equipment
The photo was taken with a Canon Powershot G11, it has no extra lens options, so I used the one that comes with the camera. What I did use, is a tripod for more stability.Inspiration
Every time we go to Ameland, and we try to make that a every two year thing, I love to walk on the beach. To see the sunset, the colours, the sea, the golden sand and especially the silence. This time we encountered more sunset lovers. And when I was all set to take the picture, tripod was ready, this man walked right in front of my camera. At first I was "No, dont do that", but afterwards he just made the picture.Editing
The only thing I used on this photo are more sharpness and contrast. I dont want to use anything else. Only a little contrast to make it more colourfull. In my camera bag
On that moment on Ameland in 2014, I had my Canon Powershot G11, a tripod and some cleaning tools in my National Geographic travel bag. But much has changed over the years. Nowdays I have Nikon D800, with a macro and zoomlens, a three legged tripod and a Loweprobag when I visit Ameland. And dont forget some cleaning tools when you go to the beach :)Feedback
Try at first not to care about the other people on the beach, they can also make the picture more "living". With sunsets, always use a tripod, because its very hard to get a picture where the horizon is straight. Make more than one picture during the whole sunset, so you can choose the best afterwards. Some camera's have the "sunset" function in their menu, also try that one, it can make better pictures with more contrast, so you have to change less about the picture afterwards. And most off all, have fun! enjoy the things you do :)
