Skogafoss

Skogafoss is one of the most powerful waterfalls in Iceland.
Legend has it that back in the days, before Instagram and Facebook, a viking hid a treasure chest in a cave behind the waterfall. And .... wait for it.... a ring from that treasure chest was found by the locals, but as they pulled the ring from the chest, the chest disappeared. The ring can now be seen at the local church.

A hiking and trekking path can be found on the eastern side of this mighty waterfall. The path leads into the world famous Laugavegur. A path that will lead you through what NatGeo describes to be the most diverse and scenically the most spectacular hike this world has to offer.
Most people will end their hike here in the Skogar area.

During the last week of August, I will travel back to Iceland. This time I will walk the Laugavegur trek and experience the highlands of Iceland! I can't wait!!
