I found this flower on a hike to Manoa Falls in Hawaii. I grew up in a dusty town in the dessert-part of Washington state, so going to Hawaii was like a whole other universe, and I was so captivated by everything. It's almost intimidating to go photograph there because you don't even know where to start. How do I do this place justice through my photos? How can I capture its enchantment? It's nice to take scenic shots of the beaches and landscapes, but I wanted to remember all those little details that make up that atmosphere. And playing around in Exposure, adjusting levels and tones, I turned this normal shot into something 'out of this world' because it was something I had never seen, so I wanted people to be captivated in a way that I was.
