I took this photo in El Dorado, Kansas, while picking my sister up from work.Time
It was fairly early in the morning on the 21st of September, and I was heading into Wal Mart to get my sister when I saw these gorgeous clouds being lit up by the rising sun. I pulled out my trusty Kodak, and took several shots, but this one was by far my favorite!Lighting
The lighting was beautiful. Huge, puffy cumulonimbus clouds, colored orange by the rising sun, but still dark enough to give the shot an awesome background.Equipment
I shot this with my trusty Kodak Easy Share CW330, using the landscape setting, I believe. No other accessories or equipment.Inspiration
Honestly, it was just there! Those are the best shots, I think. No planning, no setup, just raw and real.Editing
A little bit. I used the Kodak's software to touch up the photo a bit and really bring out the color in the clouds, and I also enhanced the image. In my camera bag
Usually all I have on me is my Kodak, which is just a simple point and shoot camera in a Lowepro Ridge 30 case. If I'm going out with photography in mind, I take my Lowepro Adventura 120, which has my Nikon D3300 with its stock lens and a polarizing lens filter, along with oodles of SD cards! It may not be the most flashy or expensive equipment, but it does get pretty good results and I love all of it!Feedback
Just be ready. You never know when an awesome shot is going to present itself. For every photo in my gallery or my portfolio, there's two shots that came along and I was like "Man, why did I leave my camera at home? This is perfect!", which is why I take my Kodak literally almost everywhere. If I'm going to be on a trip out of town, the Nikon always comes with me, especially to places I've never been. Also, don't let a lack of equipment get you down. Some of my favorite shots I've taken were done with my little Vivitar Freelance, which is just a low resolution point and shoot, with no zoom or focus, and very basic settings. Lastly, just have fun! I know that's fairly generic, but isn't it what photography is all about?
