I took this photo on a trip in Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) . I stopped in a café hidden at the third floor of an old building with my wife to get a refreshment . That is her on the image ;)Time
If I remember well , it must have been around 16h .Lighting
We were sitting inside the café just by the window where the afternoon sun was coming in . This is the only light source that was used here .Equipment
I shot with my Sony A7RII and a 35mm fixed focal lens .Inspiration
Well , I would say maybe the light coming through the window . I told my subject (my beautiful wife hehe) , let's try something . And that is what came out . This is what I love about photography . Sometimes the less elaborated shots become your all time favorite . When I clicked and capture that image , and never though it would be a Grand Jury Contest Winner !Editing
I did a bit of color adjustment in Lightroom .In my camera bag
Well it depend what I am going for . If I go for a several day trip I might bring all my lenses (14mm 2.8 , 24mm 1.4 , 35mm 2.8 , 50mm 1.4 , 100mm 2.8 and 70-300mm 4) , my Metabones mark IV adapter EF to FE , my Sony A7RII , reflectors and strobes if needed . But all of these don't fit in one bag only ;)Feedback
I think the two important things that make this image are the depth of field and the perfect natural light . When shooting something like this , you have all your time to think about what you are doing and try different things . So I highly suggest to use the manual mode and you will see that there are so many possibilities to make this very simple capture become a nice image . Think yourself and don't let the camera thinking for you by using auto or priority shooting modes .
