Stunning! Is this near Mt. Cook? I didn't know the name you mentioned. :)

Location
I took this panorama at Lake Coleridge. New Zealand.Time
Taken at 4am on a moonless nightLighting
My car read -9°C when I arrived. I believe it got colder. These cold conditions made the atmosphere super clear and allowed the photons of the starlight that had travelled across the galaxy to hit my sensor almost unobstructed.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 6D, Samyang 24mm and a Gigapan Epic Pro panorama headInspiration
Clear and dark New Zealand skies have given me the privilege of seeing stars like some people never have. I planned this shot for quite some time before I took it. I had to wait for perfect conditionsEditing
I edited the RAW files in lightroom. Exported the 24 shots as Tiff. Stitched them together in Autopana Giga. Then edited the final shot in photoshop. In my camera bag
I carry 3 x Canon 6d. Sigma art 50mm. Canon 70-200 f2.8 mk2. Canon 16-35 f4. I use a Vanguard alta tripod and a mefoto roadtrip. My panoramic head is a Gigapan Epic Pro. One of the most important things in my bag is a lens warmer and 12v battery to stop condensation and my lens freezing over!Feedback
The biggest tip I have is be persistent. You can calculate everything like moon times (you don't want any moon) and star position. But you can't control the weather. I use and app called starwalk to calculate star positions. When shooting panoramas make sure you overlap at least 30% and don't shoot wide open or there will be too much vignetting. I have an in depth video on how I make these and have plans to take it all to text format in the near future.
