Location
I shot this photo at Castle Hill, New ZealandTime
This was shot at 3.30AM last yearLighting
The moon had just set behind the rocks giving the blue glow you see. The white snow reflects light to the camera very well so acts as a great foreground.Equipment
I shot this with the Canon 6D, 24mm Samyang, Gigapan Epic Pro panoramic headInspiration
I had been to this spot a few times, but never with snow. After the dumping I knew I had to get out there.Editing
I processes the raw files in Lightroom, exported as TIFF, opened in Autopano Giga and stitched them all together, then edited the final output in Photoshop CC.In my camera bag
Now days I carry 3 x Canon 6D, a 70-200mm mkII f2.8, the 16-35mm f4 and the Sigma art 50mm, I also have a dynamic perception timelapse rail and the Gigapan Epic TroFeedback
Get a camera that can handle high ISO well, I shoot astro at 10,000 ISO mostly. Fast lenses are great (f1.4 etc) I always stop them down to about f2.8 to stop vignetting. When shooting panoramas be sure to have a lot of overlap, I shoot with 40%.
