Location
This photo was taken on my Grandparents farm. It is a 1952 Case tractor that my Grandfather used on his farm, when we were old enough this is the tractor we drove on the farm.Time
This was taken at sunrise. I staged the tractor the day before and them came back at sunrise.Lighting
I used the on camera flash to illuminate the tractor because I had not mastered off camera flash yet or even had the equipment to do a flash off camera.Equipment
I shoot this with a Nikon d3100 with a 18-55mm lens. The camera was on a tripod and I used the on camera flash.Inspiration
This tractor is the subject of a lot of good memories and I wanted to get a good shoot of it. I really like the all the charterer this tractor has. This photo is one of my favorite images, I can stare at it all day.Editing
I process my images using Adobe Lightroom. I brought out the color and detail of the tractor. I eliminated the flash that spilled on the ground and I brought out the detail in the clouds. In my camera bag
I carry my camera, two flashes, off camera flash triggers and receivers, and my 55-300mm lens. I also carry my tripod, my light stands if I am going to be doing portraits, and two shoot through umbrellas for my flashes (once again if I am going to be doing portraits).Feedback
Sunrise or sunset is the best time of day to capture an image like this. You really need clouds or something going on in the sky, this image would not be as good if it was clear sky. The best advice I can give is to know your gear, what you want to capture, and be patient. Wait for the stars to align and give you the elements you want.
