The Photography show in Birmingham NEC this year, model is Annabelle RichTime
A very busy bit of Sunday afternoon. I shot another one from a distance of the same model shot through the crowd which I used the bad light to pick her out through the crowd. That one was all about timing getting her expression and the crowd parting at just the right moment, that one made arms ache with the wait!Lighting
The model was on one of the trade stands that was doing a lighting styles demo. They were using strobe all over the place and making things overly complex. There were two simple soft boxes with continuous lights in either side of her. These made for a beautiful soft light rather than the ultra complex set up they were trying to sell everyone. I moved the iso up shutter speed down to make the most of the comparatively dull continuous light, found a good angle and waited for the expression in her eyes.Equipment
Shot on my newly bought that day Sony A7M2 hand held with an 18-55 lens F6.3 1/100 at ISO 5000Inspiration
I loved the classic 1920 art deco dress and look. It really looked great with this model.Editing
I transfered the image from the camera straight to my phone and did a couple of small tweeks in the android app version of photoshop....job done!In my camera bag
I'm a Sony Alpha fan, so two A77ii and now an A7M2 various lenses and three speedlight with wireless remotes. A lightweight carbon fibre tripod and remote shutter, as I love a bit of long exposure action!Feedback
Don't be afraid to use manual mode and all the settings your camera has to capture the image you want even if the conditions are far from perfect. If it's not right first time review your efforts correct the issues and shoot again!
