This photo was taken in my home in Salisbury, NC. I am a self-taught photographer and had just received the light box that I had ordered. I got the box set up and used TV trays for the lighting on either side. Lucky for me the purple irises in my back yard were blooming.Time
This question is irrelevant because I used a light box indoors.Lighting
The light box came with two lights to place on either side, and four different colors of background/bottom; white, black, red and blue. I use TV trays to adjust the lighting to perfection.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Canon S-120, using a light box with both side lights illuminated. No flash or tripod was used.Inspiration
The deep purple irises blooming in my backyard were just beautiful. I cut the blossoms, and put the purple irises in a red vase, with a red background. I took several shots, but wasn't happy until I stopped shooting from the front, and stood up over my subject to get a different perspective. I was very pleased with the results.Editing
Yes, I use a program that came with my camera; Digital Photo Professional, utilizing the cropping and HDR tools. In my camera bag
So far in my beginner photography career, I just have my Canon S120 with an extra battery in my bag. It is a great little camera that goes with me everywhere. I am planning to add another, larger, more sophisticated camera to my "camera wardrobe" in the near future.Feedback
I really enjoy using the light box. It provides the perfect stage for still life with an uncluttered background, and your choice of background colors. Also the lighting is fantastic. You can move the lights on either side to be closer or farther from the tent, creating different effects on your subject (I use TV Trays to get just the right glow in the tent). There are ways to create you own light box, but I chose to start with an affordable kit version, and I enjoy the convenience of shooting in my home "studio".
