Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Sowcarpet, Chennai. I am a self taught photographer, so every shoot is pretty much a new lesson for me.

Time

This is probably one of my favorite images. I remeber waking up early in the morning and going to Sowkarpet to over the Holi vestival. After capturing some great moments at the festival, I was about to pack my camera and return home. Then I saw this gentilman offering his prayer at a temple. This was taken on March 24, 2016 at 9:35 AM

Lighting

I wanted this image to look mysterious and draw the viewer into a scene in a story. There was some beautiful sun light. I wanted the image to be more natural and decided to shoot in natural light.

Equipment

This was shot on Nikon D5200, with an 50mm f 1.8 lens. No Other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

I was looking for some great street scene. When I first saw this gentleman offering prayer at a local temple. I got attracted towards the serious look he has.

Editing

As I wanted this image to be natural, post-processing was just limited to adjusting HSL of colors and adjusting the clarity.

In my camera bag

The fist thing I always pack is my Nikon 50mm 1.8 prime. That ha become my favorite piece of kit. I then pack a Nikon D5200 body, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and 55-200 f4-5.6 lens.

Every city has some great beauty hidden in it, explore the beauty of your city and its culture. One of the major features of a street photographer is to always aware of your surroundings. Always observe your surroundings and let your images speak of a particular scene.
