This photo was taken in the parking lot where I work. I can often be found out there on my break when it snows. Circling the cars with my phone with its adapter. Or my Olympus. The ladies I work with often giggle at me. Or they will holler for me to come in before I freeze.Time
It was in the morning some time. It is not often in South Dakota that the flakes come down whole and not broken. Or were the wind isn't blowing.Lighting
I mostly do all natural lighting when I shoot. Allot of the time shots are spontaneous me there is no time for special preparation. Ansel Adams said "Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter."Equipment
For this picture I think I used my phone with a clip on adapter. It just clips right over the lens. The hardest part is not shaking in the cold. I hold my breath allot lol.Inspiration
I was inspired by the fact that it was snowing whole flakes. I get almost giddy lol. When at home I drag out all my colorful scarves and put them in the freezer to get them cold so the flakes don't melt. Then it is a constant watch out the wind pray for patience and for it not to stop snowing.Editing
For this particular picture I used snapseed on my phone. Just to add some contrast and saturation. Cameras tend to take a very flat image and often need a little help getting the end result to look like I saw it in my viewfinder. In my camera bag
I have a old Olympus E420 that I started with. A Canon T2i, with a few different lenses. A Olympus TG4 that I carry in my purse always. You never know when God's ready.Feedback
Amazon sells a little kit. Most of them have three little lenses that attach to a clip that can clip over the lens of your phone. I think mine cost between $6 and $12 dollars. I have found it to be invaluable and I keep it clipped to the inside of my purse. There are of course maco lenses and other types of equipment. i started out by turning my lens around and using it backwards for a long time before I could afford a better way. There are several tutorials online that explain how to do it. I have been using photoshop for editing for about 20 years. It can be intimidating at first, but is very powerful. I also use snapseed on my phone. It is really fairly easy to use and there are some YouTube videos that explain how to use it.
