This photo was taken at my father in law's house on Christmas Eve 2015. My step mother in law passed away a few years ago and my family has spent Christmas Eve and morning at his house ever since.Time
Christmas Eve before bedtime. My oldest son has a family now, I was saddened he would not be with us on Christmas morning anymore. They surprised us and spent the night with us! Children at Christmas is the best!Lighting
We placed an iPad in the book for lighting and used the Christmas lights in the background.Equipment
Camera: NIKON D810 Aperture: f/1.4 ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: 1/125 Focal Length: 850/10 iPad inside book and Christmas lights on treeInspiration
My first grandchild inspires me on many levels! I came across The Magic Book photo on Facebook and knew I had to try it with her and my youngest son who is 8.Editing
Post processing in photoshop and lightroom. I used brushes and styles for the flare. This is the first time I have done anything like this. I am self taught and try to learn something everyday. This is one of those photos I go back to over and over again to see what I can do to improve it. I have several edits of the photos from the evening I work with.In my camera bag
I currently have two cameras in need of repair.. started off with a Nikon d50, Nikon d3000. I rent the Nikon D810 as much as I can or borrow my sons nikon d3300 . I desperately want the 810 and the Nikon D4 so I can take my sports photography to the next level. My go to lens is a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. I also rent the Nikon 85mm f/1.4G AF-S . I own the nikon sb 910 flash and several kit lenses. as well as an older AF NIKKOR 80-200 1:2.8 DFeedback
Research and practice! I lucked out getting the perfect moment between mother and child. Don't be afraid to try something new!
