Location
This photo was taken April 2014 during the Butterflies Go Free event at the Botanical Gardens in Montreal.Time
I believe this photo was taken midday, it's been a while sinceLighting
It was a bright sunny spring day, the light was shining through the windows at the botanical gardens forming rays of intermitent sunshine. No flash was used, only natural lighting.Equipment
This was shot with a Niknon D3200 and Sigma 18-250 lens, hand held as no tripods were allowed on the premisesInspiration
I was looking forward to photograph the different species of butterflies during this event. I saw this one just sitting there and took a shot. I was surprised at how sharp it was despite being hand held.Editing
I used very little post processing wanting to keep it's natural state, I only changed it to B&W from colour. In my camera bag
SInce this image I've taken up a commecial photography course, I've upgraded to a full frame camera and now shoot with a Sony A7 and 28-70 lens, a travel tripod and 50mm lens. I keep my bag light.Feedback
Make sure to go to any butterflies go free event and snap away! No need for special lighting, tripod or extra equipment, just a steady hand.
