Location
I was invited to visit the Ulster Grand Prix in Northern Ireland. It was my first article in the magazine I work for where I also provided photos.Time
This is late midday, around 16.30 hr.Lighting
The lightning is really spectacular, just a sunny day.Equipment
This one's from 2013, so I used my first DSLR, a Olympus E-330. I layed down and used a telelens, a 70 - 300 mm.Inspiration
A road race is perfect for shooting pictures, because you can walk around the track. We spotted this location, where you had clear and wide vision.Editing
I did some normal post-processing, like saturation, contrast and levels of black and white. In my camera bag
The Olympus was my old camera, so nowadays I use a Canon 7D. In my bag: 70-200 mm F4.0, 16-35 mm F2.8, 50 mm F1.8, teleconverter 1.4, two Canon flashlights Speedlite EX-430 and triggers.Feedback
Go visit a Road Race instead of a race on a permanent circuit. You can come a lot closer and more space to shoot racepictures. And a big advantage is that you see a lot of races, so more time to shoot. Don't be on the same spot as all the other photographers. Try to take a different angle. By the way, you need a fast camera, with a good autofocus. If not, try to take one spot at a corner and focus manual.
