Behind The Lens

Location

TT Circuit of Assen, also known as the cathedral of motorsport.

Time

At midday, when Moto2 had a free practice.

Lighting

Not really cloudy, so enough light to use a low iso.

Equipment

This picture was made when I borrowed a Canon 1D mark IV of a professional photographer. Was my first time with good equipment. The lens was a 70-200 mm, f2.8. Shuttertime was 1/320 to get some speed in this photo.

Inspiration

It was my first time to stand at a serious track, so I was very happy to shoot a picture like this.

Editing

Not really. Only some small things, because I shot it as a jpg. Nowadays I use raw, but it defenitely inspired me to get enthousiastic about photography.

In my camera bag

Canon 7D 70-200 mm f4.0 15-36 mm, f2.8 50 mm, f1.8 Two flashlights, canon speedlite 270 with triggersystem

Feedback

I tried to learn from some motorsports photographer and did many tries. Panning is just practising and practising. Try to 'use' a friend who's keen to ride and you can take pictures. Begin with fast shuttertimes and when the photos are pinsharp, try to lower the shuttertime. After a while you find your way in action images.
