Behind The Lens

Location

Photo taken at Mason Beach also known locally as Wakefield beach on the Sunshine Coast BC near Sechelt. This beach has unobstructed 180 degree views of the Pacific ocean - the Malaspina Strait - from Vancouver in the SE 45 km distant to NE Vancouver Island. As a consequence it has the most marvellous unobstructed views.

Time

Late winter morning in March when the light is shifting so dramatically as the globe tilts back towards the sun that time of year.

Lighting

Nature provides and we have to adjust accordingly.

Equipment

Pentax K70 with 100mm f 2.8 prime and hand held at 1/800 sec. f/11 68 mm ISO 200 with -1 EV

Inspiration

A place I frequent to capture winged wildlife, sea life and marine traffic. Nothing inspired me - but nature provided the incentive and opportunity. Pacific coast weather is often dynamic and it is a joy to watch it change and then capture that.

Editing

Yes some. Tweaked to adjust contrast and clarity but little else. Colour is as camera captured it.

In my camera bag

Two systems:Either Pentax K70 for wildlife and adverse weather with various primes from f1.8 14mm to f 4.1 300mm manual. Olympus Mark IV for landscapes and good weather with various lens from f1.7 12mm manual prime to f 4.1 100-300mm f4.1 telephoto.

Feedback

Be out there often because nature and life brings unique opportunity every moment. For me the camera and lens is an extension of the eye and the mind.
