Location
This Mesa Arch photo was taken in Canyonlands National Park in Utah.Time
Just after sunrise.Lighting
The sky was overcast but the sunrise was strong enough to turn the underside of the arch red in color.Equipment
Nikon D4 camera, Tripod and Nikon 24-120mm lensInspiration
I wanted to see the arch at sunrise and get some photos of it, so we arose at 3:00 a.m. and drove from Moab, Utah to Canyonlands National Park. It's a bit of a walk to get to the arch, and in the dark it required flashlights to see and not stumble.Editing
Yes. This is a 5-shot HDR image. In my camera bag
Nikon camera, monopod, 24-120mm lens, 28-200mm lens, macro lens, wide angle lens (all lens are Nikon/Nikkor), flash unit, and cleaning materials.Feedback
Be patient, visit more than once. The skies can be tricky at times. Just keep trying. Be there and have all equipment set up before sunrise.
