Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in Dubai Mall's lake fountain, right behind the Burj Khalifa, world's tallest building.Time
This was taken at around 6pm, friday.Lighting
On that day and time, it is partly cloudy in Dubai so the sun is not too harsh and gives light ray effects over the clouds. The sun is also setting behind the buildings which made the silhouette effect. I tweaked the shadows a little for the crowd to lighten up. The light reflection from the mall also helped for the crowd to be lightened up.Equipment
I used a Canon 450D with 18-55mm kit lens.Inspiration
The diversity of this country. This photo is also very unforgettable for me because it is my first time to go there with my father, mother and brother. We haven't seen each other for a long time then.Editing
Yes, I used Adobe Lightroom editing the raw file. I always use raw files. I tweaked a bit the shadows here, changed the color temp to a very sunny or sunset effect and other minor adjustmentsIn my camera bag
At that time I took that picture, my equipment was only the Canon 450d and its kit lens. But now I also got a 50mm stm f1.8 and a cheap generic tripod.I'm not yet investing heavily gears since I had just started in photography, but I will, soon.Feedback
If you had just started in photography like me, it's not really necessary to buy or have a very expensive set-up. Any camera that have decent lens, can shoot in manual and raw be okay. You just need to know your gear very well, study and practice. Today's generation is almost all digital, you can almost find anything online. I didn't go in any photography class or seminars, I just do my research online, watch a lot of videos and practice on my free times. They say photography is about capturing the moment, so I guess, you just have to think how the way your camera will see it, set, then click!
