Since taking up photography as a hobby, I've travelled to places that I'd normally not go to. I've previously spent most of my time at the golf courses and I've definitely missed much of what the beauty of nature, people and places offers. The photo was captured at the beauty fishing village of Cheung Chau.

Location
The photo was captured on the island of Cheung Chau. The island is 10 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong Island and it is nicknamed the "dumbbell island" due to its shape, with hills at the northern and southern ends and the settlements concentrated in between.Time
It was my first trip to the island and I set off from Macau as early as 7am and arriving in Cheung Chau at 9.30am. As there are much to do on the island, I explored the entire island and chanced upon this awesome location near the Cheung Po Tsai Cave. It was almost close to 5.30pm when I got to the location, and it was also the start of the sunsetting moments. That's the moment I've managed to capture the shot.Lighting
I have always been fascinated by beautiful nature and landscape photos that some great photographers have captured. I've read also in magazines of what lightings can help to compliment an image, and what better way to deal with lightings than to allow natural lights to help me in this photo. I guess I was at the right place at the right time, and the natural lighting was not too harsh.Equipment
The shot was captured using a Canon EOS 6D, Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens with the following settings: ISO 100, focal length 24mm, f/3.2 @ 1/250 sec + NISI ND8 & CPL filter.Inspiration
Landscape photography is commonly involving daylight photography of natural features of land, sky and water at a distance. I love the natural beauty of the environment and landscape photography allows me to share with friends and strangers of what we can do to protect our mother land.Editing
The image was captured in JPEG instead of RAW. I've used Adobe Lightroom to help me to post-process the image. When I first used the software, I was fumbling with the functions. I've since moved on and understand my camera and post-processing techniques better. That sure does help tremendously. In my camera bag
I've always have the Nifty-Fifty with me but ever since I was introduced to the Helios 44-2 58mm f/2.0 lens, that is one lens that I will always packed in my bag. The lens creates swirling bokeh when photos are captured with the lens wide open. Another lens that I will always pack in my bag is the Canon EF17-40mm f/4.0 USM lens since landscape photography is something that I enjoy taking. As for portraits, I use a Carl Zeiss Planar T f/1.4 85mm ZE lens.Feedback
Some people I've spoken to feel that taking landscape photos of a similar location is boring but I do not really agree with their opinion because each day is different. The difference is even more obvious during the seasons. By the way, I have a tripod set at home that allows me to take my daily shots of a similar location, and even if I'm using the same camera settings, the images always look different. I've also made daily photo taking and sharing as part of my daily routine. It forces me to practice and learn through sharing. I am a self-taught photographer and I get helps through magazines, books, internet and sharing of information with experience photographers.
