Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo atop dalmahoy hill, West Lothian.

Time

I was waiting for sunset so I could start a star trail I saw the glow from the golden sun light up the lothians, I had the perfect opportunity.

Lighting

I wanted to capture the golden glow from the sun but also I really liked the lens flare it added another interest to the shot

Equipment

I used my very first dslr which was a nikon D3200 with kit lens (18-55mm) and a fairly unstable camlink tripod (it did me well in this shot though)

Inspiration

There was no inspiration it was purely right place at the right time

Editing

I did some minor adjustments in lightroom like tone down the highlights to bring out the clouds and increased the vibrance

In my camera bag

I now have a nikon D90 a tamron 70-300mm, nikon 18-55mm, samyang 16mm f2 an interverlometer and a set of various filters

Feedback

I'm the type that doesn't plan months in advance, it could be a negative but I believe if I'm going to get a good shot it will just happen
