Location
The photo was taken at the back of my friend Michel Chauvet's house and the winery of Champagne P. Lancelot-Royer in Cramant in the Cotes de Blancs near Epernay in Champagne, France.Time
This was taken just before sunset. I had recently bought my first digital camera a Nikon D80 and a Sigma 10-20 lens. I love this shot because it captures the vibe and the vista of the chardonnay vineyards. The light was wonderful too. I was experimenting with the camera and lens and was delighted with this shot.Lighting
It was the time of the day when the light is magical. It gives the vineyards a wonderful look. The D80 is long gone but I still shoot with the lens adapted to my Fuji cameras. It produces wonderful images has a magical rendering of colours and, dare I say it, feel.Equipment
Nikon D80. Sigma 10-20mm. PP in lightroom. Handheld.Inspiration
I'd been struggling to get the image I wanted then suddenly got it. Not really a planned shot I just went out to the back of the property and managed to get what I wanted.Editing
I don't recall. Though for once the photo must have been pretty spot-on, in-camera. I may have cropped the photo. It was a long time ago.In my camera bag
Now I have either my Fuji XH1 and Fuji XF18-135 lens, or my XT2 and XF10-24or Sigma 10-20 shooting manually via an adapter. Alternatively, it will be my XT1 and my XF14mm f/2.8. Just depends on the mood and the light. I now live on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.Feedback
For me, it's about the light. I'm a light person. I shoot Seascapes and Landscapes and never use a tripod. I shoot everything handheld. I find tripods restricting. I treat landscape photography in the same way as others treat street photography. Also, clouds maketh the photo. We get amazing sunsets here in the rainy season with incredible clouds and colours.
