Location
This is an image from one of my early morning walks in a local woods where I often go to unwind after a night shift.Time
It was early morning, but not too early - around 8am. I always take some bird seed with me to feed the wildlife by the pond and on this particular occasion a robin came and perched on the bench while I sat on the floor. I didn't notice the spider until I uploaded the image onto my laptop to edit.Lighting
The sun hadn't risen very high and I was sitting in dappled shade but it wan't too dark to get some decent images.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 600D with 75 - 300mm kit lens.Inspiration
I love wildlife and often visit the woods and sit by the pond to try and capture anything that I can tempt to visit with my bribes of bird seed. For this shot I liked the way the robin was poised on the bench on which I should have been sitting and was looking at me as if to say 'what are you doing down there?'. the spider was a bonus.Editing
I edited in RAW and then I converted the background to black and white as I found it was detracting from the star of the image.In my camera bag
I have my 2 kit lenses, an 18-55mm and a 75-300mm, along with some filters, a flare hood and my automatic trigger. Lens cleaning cloths are also an essential.Feedback
For this shot I knew I would have to visit in early morning as it is a popular venue which can get quite busy. Time and patience are both necessities when photographing wildlife. Slow, calm movements will allow you to build up trust between you and your subjects and a bribe of appropriate food always helps.
