Location
I love eagles, and to be so close to this one was amazing. I took this photo at the Alaska wildlife conservation center in Portage, Alaska. They had all sorts of wildlife at their conserve. This one was indoors and was perched very still.Time
I snapped this photo in the early afternoon.Lighting
There was natural lighting from the mid day sun in May (2014). No flash.Equipment
I used my telephoto lens on my Canon EOS Rebel.Inspiration
I just get excited to see animals and birds that I don't usually get to see normally. I thought if I could get a decent picture of an eagle, our nations bird, that would be really cool!Editing
I cropped some of the background out, since it was an indoor photo. Other than that,In my camera bag
Usually I have my Canon EOS and two lenses, along with a spare battery and charter, as well as some memory cards. I carry a little table top tripod as well.Feedback
Take lots of shots, sometimes looking back at the ones you thought would be good weren't actually as good as others that you took, but didn't realize had a better shot.
