Location
This was taken from a bridge overlooking downtown Atlanta, Georgia. I started doing photography in 2014 and I still feel like a beginner. With constant travel for work, I like to practice photography of the different cities along the way. This is from the Jackson Street bridge with a hole in the chain link fence that was just big enough for my lens to shoot through while sitting on a tripod. Because there is only one hole in the fence good enough for shooting through, it is best to arrive early before other photographers.Time
I got to this location before sunset and started shooting, but didn't like those images as well. So I waited until the lights of the city came and that gave the opportunity to add light trails too and I love how they add the feeling of movement to the image! So as soon as the sun set and city and car lights came on, then I started shooting and got this one!Lighting
To get light trails and a warm glow in the horizon, it was important to take this shot right at sun set. I did set up my camera and tripod early enough so I wouldn't miss the perfect light when it was there.Equipment

Since I travel constantly for work, I decided to try capturing city skylines along the way. After I saw an image in an airline magazine of this skyline, I did some research of what location might be great for shooting it from.Editing
This is one single shot with no stacking so this is something anyone can do. I just brought it into light room and brought up the shadows, then used the brush to add exposure to areas I wanted to lighten and add detail. I brought it over to Photoshop to smart sharpen slightly and to color balance like I wanted.In my camera bag

It's good to research on where you want to capture the skyline first, then check the weather conditions. I like to get to the location early enough to be sure to a great spot to shoot from. At this location I could only find one opening big enough in the chain link fence to shoot through.
