Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my garden in Cape Town. I was especially looking for a flower that would give me a sense of shape and ripple in the petals.

Time

As I recall this was taken in the morning.

Lighting

I wanted to explore shapes and light in this image. The sun and the shadow made for an interesting combination with the curves of the petals.

Equipment

Just my Canon EOS 750 with an 18 to 55 mm lens

Inspiration

I was still learning photography and was looking to explore all kinds of shapes. Flowers are so satisfying in their unique shape and colour.

Editing

As I recall I did do a little post-processing in that I intensified the colour slightly.

In my camera bag

My Canon EOS750. An 18 to 55mm lens and a 300 mm lens. A flash and a couple of filters. An extra battery is a must for me and I always have me instruction manual for the camera with me... for just in case. I have a small bag and don't usually carry my tripod with me unless I know I will specifically need it.

Feedback

I find it strange to offer advise as I am an amateur. I can only suggest that you check the light, the shadows and the lines of your image. I don't have expensive equipment and I have learned that placement and composition will always help make your image better.
