Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along the coast of Alabama, along the Mississippi sound in the small town of Coden.

Time

Late afternoon

Lighting

I had been watching the weather and cloud formations for a few days, waiting on the right amount of clouds.

Equipment

I was using a tripod and my Sony A6000 with a 15-50 Sony lens.

Inspiration

I reconnoiter the spot for the photo knowing that you need something in the foreground to make a sunset photo. I had also just got into HDR photography and shot this in a 5 shot bracket. I'm always looking for water spots that face east or west for sunrise or sunset photos.

Editing

Yes I used Aurora HDR software for post proceeding and apple software iPhotos . I wanted to bring out the fore ground and the colors in the sunset but not to make it look HRD. I wanted a natural looking photo, not over processed. It's so easy to over do it with HDR software.

In my camera bag

I normally shoot wildlife with a Sony 200-600 zoom with a 1.4 extender.

Feedback

Get out often and don't leave too early during a sunset. Sometimes it really blows up after the sun has lowered below the horizon.
