Location
This photo was shot at the Capital building in Austin, TX. Oddly enough, I had to take this during this year's Super Bowl in order to not have people in the background.Time
I shot this in the evening, around 6pm.Lighting
I was purposely trying to get a shot of the Capital with the sun setting in the background.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100 with a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens.Inspiration
I've wanted to take this shot ever since I first laid eyes on the underground rotunda.Editing
I did some basic post-process the image. Most of the post-processing was accomplished with lightroom. Some dodging and burning, clarity and levels adjustments were made.In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Sigma 17-50mm f2.8, Sigma 50-150mm f2.8, Nikkor 50mm f1.8G, Nikkor 35mm f1.8G, and two speedlights.Feedback
I always try to scout locations before shooting. Just to see where the sun is at and how many people are around. Always handy to have a VND filter available. I did not use one for this particular shot, but I have needed it for many similar images that I have taken in the past. Also, never hurts to change your point of view. A slight angle usually adds a lot to an image.
