Behind The Lens

Location

Our studio, Oakland City, IN

Time

This was an evening session but it was shot in the studio

Lighting

This was done with a clam shell lighting setup using the Wescott Eye Lighter.

Equipment

Camera canon 1Dx and an 85 f/1.2 L lens Light were Paul buff Einsteins and Main was a 3x4 Larson/Sweetlight soft box.

Inspiration

This was a contest session for a makeup artist. She did the makeup for a more Native American look complete with a head dress and feathers but I really saw a Mad Max type look to it. When we were finished I grabbed two Paul Buff reflectors and made a hat out of it. I then grabbed some pieces I had around and made the necklace and found some ear rings for her.

Editing

I desaturated the skin and then retouched using frequency separation as well as some high pass filtering at the end.

In my camera bag

I shoot canon and from time to time sony. My location kit is Profoto B1's, studio lights are Buff Einsteins and larson/Sweetlight modifiers.

Feedback

experiment....we have these amazing screens on the backs of our cameras....use them.
