Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken locally to me at a seaside resort called Barry Island.

Time

This is probably my favourite panoramic image I have shot. I was heading to the shops and saw the sky developing into something special so I took a detour to the coast and shot this. It was taken late on in the evening as the sky was going crazy with the most amazing sunset.

Lighting

Not much! I got lucky with the sunset!

Equipment

This was taken with a Fuji X-E1 and the kit 18-55mm kit lens. A camera lens combo that lives in the car as it's easy to keep it concealed but produces fantastic results.

Inspiration

It's an image I've always wanted to shoot when the elements all come together. With the sky as it was I knew this was 'the' time to capture it.

Editing

I shot 6 over lapping RAW file images and then stitched them together using Lightroom. Then it was a few tweaks with basic exposure and a crop to ditch parts that didn't add anything to the image.

In my camera bag

For the Fuji set up it's just the camera, a basic kit lens and a pro grip to make it easier to handle.

Feedback

Research the area, know the composition you want and then wait until the light is right. Forward planning means less wasted time when the light is right.
