I was visiting a conservation center in Alaska when this eagle decided to fly in and land in some trees above us. Food was being thrown to some bears in a pit and he had his eye on grabbing some for himself.

Location
This photo was taken in Portage, Alaska at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. The center's focus is on conservation and rehabilitation and all animals are kept in open but secure areas similar to how they would live in the wild. This eagle flew in and landed in a tree near a bear pit when they were throwing raw fish and meat to the bears. He had his eye on getting some for himself and actually did! I missed that shot unfortunately.Time
This was taken mid-day on a bright, sunny afternoon.Lighting
The photo was taken outdoors in natural, bright sunlight.Equipment
I took this photo hand-held using my Sony A7 II with a Sony f4 G FE 70 - 200 OSS lens.Inspiration
When going to the conservation center my hope was that I would get an interesting shot of some of the animals. I took a somewhat long lens knowing I probably would not be able to get very close. I did not think about the fact that there would be other animals "visiting" at their leisure. There were several eagles coming and going so I was really happy to get this one.Editing
I did very little post-processing on this photo as the light was bright and the lens was sharp. I generally use Lightroom for most of my post-processing and I may have opened up some shadows on his body, but that was about all.In my camera bag
My take everywhere equipment includes my Sony A7 II camera, Zeiss f4 24 - 70 lens, and Sony f2.8 90 mm macro G OSS lens. Out shooting wildlife with a somewhat long lens is very unusual for me, but for my trip to Alaska having the Sony f4 70 - 200 was a must. Even longer would have been better, but that was what I had at the time.Feedback
Staying alert and having your camera at the ready is critical when shooting wildlife. Pre-set your aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to give you the best exposure for the area in which you are shooting so all you have to worry about is focus. If your camera gives you the option for continuous shooting, turn that on as well. Then keep your eyes open and be ready to press that shutter button.
