Moving, the emotions of this you have captured are just overwhelming. This is what photography is all about. The emotional response to the photograph its self. You have captured it and then some my friend! Well done.

Location
I took this photo in the kitchen of my home, at our family dining table right next to a large window. I am still learning and not as comfortable with all the lighting techniques and equipment that I see other talented photographers using.Time
This was taken early in the morning I wanted to be sure that I had plenty of natural light and positioned my husband so the light was angled on his hands. The natural light in my kitchen is beautiful nice and early before the sun rises and shadows start to fall.Lighting
I positioned my husband right in front of the kitchen window and used a Canon flash off camera to highlight the hands and the bible. I tried strickly flash lighting and wasn't crazy about the image so wanted a softer feel to the image. I did use two large white cardboard trifolds I purchased at local store to help direct the light to the center of my husband.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark III, 50 f1.4 and a Canon SpeedlightInspiration
My husband received this old, leather bound bible from his mom. It was passed down from his grandfather and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to try and capture what I pictured his grandfather doing with this beautiful book. Faith has been a huge aspect in my life and my husband's family and during the most trying of times the hardest thing for me is to have faith. I wanted to capture the power of faith and how words can impact and bring hope even during the darkest times.Editing
Yes, the basic editing in Lightroom, adjusted the contract, highlights, clarity and turned into black and white. I imported into Photoshop I wanted to focus of the image to be on the hands and the bible. In photoshop just added a few layers to darken areas, sharpen the hands and bible and make the image pop.In my camera bag
I always have my nifty 50 f.14 and my children play a lot of sports so my canon f2.8 70-200 is always in my bag!Feedback
I think when I first saw the book, that was the reason for the whole image. I saw this scene as soon as I saw the book, if you see something in your mind try to follow through. I was pleasantly surprised how well the image turned out when I put in the effort. I have done this a few other things with other images and when I really give it my all, I always impress myself!
