Location
This picture was taken at the magnificent Multnomah Falls, Oregon.Time
I was on vacation in Portland in the midst of a big storm early November of 2015. This shot was taken in the brief moment that the rain stopped. It was taken around late afternoon.Lighting
Because of the rain, the natural lighting helped capture the beauty of the place. Overcast, with sun peeking through the clouds did the magic. The rain enhanced the greenery and made everything look mesmerizing, and soaking my lens at the same time. It took several attempts to capture the final image.Equipment
Shot on Canon T2i paired with Canon EF-S 10-18mm lens and a Dolica travel tripod.Inspiration
My wife - who happens to be the greatest motivator & critique of my photography- is particularly fond of waterfalls. The Columbia River Gorge is gifted with magnificent waterfalls, Multnomah being one of the most popular. On our vacation to Portland I was determined to capture a good image of Multnomah for my wife. I think, I managed to do a good job.Editing
Yes, this image is an HDR image. I took tree images with different exposures and merged them together in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I never travel without my camera bag which contains a Canon 7D Mark II , Canon EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM (love this lens) & Canon EF-S10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM & Dolica travel tripod.Feedback
Landscape Photography is all about timing, planning & patience.I had to wait for the rain to stop, the clouds to roll in, and several attempts to capture but in the end all the efforts paid off. Apart from capturing the image, take time to enjoy the nature because that's probably the reason you got started with nature photography. Have fun and keep clicking.
