Location
I took this photo on one of my wedding shoots. It was shot on the entrance of the beautiful castle Zrinski in Cakovec, Croatia. The castle is located in Zrinski Park, not far from the city's central square.Time
It was taken on a nice warm sunny day on August 07, 2015 at 17:45 PM.Lighting
As soon as I saw this beautiful entrance of the castle and the natural light coming through it, I knew that I wanted to create a nice romantic silhouette of the couple. I was very satisfied when I saw the result on the screen of my camera. It turned out just how I imagined it.Equipment
The camera I used was Canon EOS REBEL T2i, with an 50mm f/1.4 lens.Inspiration
The location itself inspired me and also I really love to take silhouette photos. We were headed to the park, which is right next to the castle. As we were walking through the entrance tunnel, towards the park, I just had to stop to take few shots there because it was just the perfect spot for that kind of photos.Editing
I converted this photo to black and white and then I adjusted the tone curve and added some grain to achieve a nice film look. I also had to remove the graffiti from the wall on the left side of the photo because it was very distracting.In my camera bag
Back then I only had my Canon EOS REBEL T2i with 18-55mm lens but now I have Canon 6D and I'm very happy with it. The lenses I always have in my bag are Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM and Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM. Then I have my YONGNUO Flash YN-560II and of course few fully charged batteries for my camera and flash. I'm hoping for some more equipment in the future but till then, I'm very satisfied with what I have now.Feedback
It is really not that hard to create this kind of shots. The only thing that you need, to capture a nice silhouette, is to have the background brighter then your subject. For this photo I manually set the aperture to f/1.4 so the background becomes more blurry and the shutter speed to 1/1000 sec to catch the silhouette of the couple.
