Location
This was taken while I was touring Historical Williamsburg in June of 2015. They have several gardens and this was one that caught my eye!Time
This was during the mid afternoon hours between 2 and 2:30. The sun was high, but I chose to move the angle of the camera to simulate a lower sun.Lighting
I walked around this flower for a few minutes also moving up and down to find the right combination of lighting to show off the color.Equipment
This was taken with my Nikon D60 using my 55-200mm zoom at 200mm. The rest was nature taking its course.Inspiration
My fiance was in Oklahoma at the time and she LOVES the color purple, so I wanted to capture something I could use as a gift for her.Editing
I cropped the photo and removed some noise, but that was the limit of the modification that this picture needed. I was rather surprised that that was all it needed. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D60 with a 55-200mm lens and a Nikon D3100 with an 18-55mm lens. I also carry macro filters, UV filters, extra batteries, extra SD cards, Lens cleaning cloths.Feedback
Look for the emotion in each shot. Capture what your heart sees! The technical will come. Also, you do not need the latest and greatest equipment to capture amazing shots. The best photos come from a place of emotion, not a place of technology.
