Full daytime lighting so when for 'sexy 16' (f-16) if I remember rightly. Helped to ensure the whole of the owl was in focus. There were a number being displayed as part of raising awareness about the local bird sanctuary. This little one looked quite left out as the other owls were getting more attention.Equipment
Handheld, D3200 with the 18-55mm kit lens. It was one of the first ever pictures I took with my first ever DSLR. I was very proud of it when I got it into Lightroom and still am today.Inspiration
As mentioned above, he (I'm assuming gender) looked so left out and I really wanted to capture that. The feeling of not being alone but feeling lonely. Its something I guess we all feel at times.Editing
Very little in post-process. A very slight boost of the contrast and I think I took the exposure down the tiniest bit to enhance the feeling of solitude. In my camera bag
Always my Nifty Fifty. I've found the 1.8G is such an amazing lens for the price. Never without that prime. I also make sure the 55-200mm Nikon WITH VR is always a safe bet too.Feedback
The 55-200mm would have been a much better lens for this shot rather than the 18-55mm kit lens that I used. Although I was lucky with this image, being able to be further away would have made for an even easier shot with a lot of the other images I took on the day. Plus, in my opinion, the perspective would have been a little more pleasing. Having said that, I'm still very happy I got the shot. Additionally, I'd love to be able to get a full-frame (like the D750). Again, it would have given me more room to move within the frame and probably allowed me to have an even faster shutter speed which would have helped with again, a number of the other shots. Birds almost always move just after you've fired the shutter. Its like they know!
