This photo was taken from a duck blind on a ranch in Steamboat, Colorado!Time
I remember every moment of this morning, and I'm ecstatic this photo turned out the way it did! My boyfriend and I went up to Steamboat Springs for the weekend as his buddy was taking us duck hunting. Mind you, this was in January around 8 am and it was freezing. If I remember right the temperature was -4 degrees F. The snow danced like crystals in that temperature and I couldn't resist but try to get a shot.Lighting
I am a huge fan of nature photography and always strive to find amazing scenery to take pictures of. It was dark for most of the morning and my other photos were not turning out quite like I was hoping. It was absolutely freezing, I was standing in the blind debating if I should leave when all of a sudden I feel the warmth of the sun on my cheek. As I looked over my left shoulder the snow was sparkling in the sun rays, it was the first time all morning light was hitting the beauty of this area.Equipment
As I cannot afford the cameras I want, I honestly just use my iPhone 6. No flash or fancy changes for the lighting, I held up my phone in hopes of capturing something good.Inspiration
Colorado is such a beautiful state and I always tend to have my phone for pictures, even when we are camping with no service. This particular morning will be one of my favorite memories. The air was so brisk even the heaters we had on our feet were having a hard time running. Fog was covering the stream in front of us and besides the sounds from the guns, it was completely silent and serene. We could hear the ducks calling from quite a ways off, not even the wind threatened to blow a breeze our way. The only reason I've ever taken pictures is to share how beautiful our world is.Editing
I did not in fact do any post-processing!In my camera bag
Considering it's only my iPhone, the most I carry is a case to protect it and my charger for the road.Feedback
Definitely following what you're passionate about. If you love people, sit in a park and people watch. Get expressions, get laughter and love. If it's animals find a sanctuary or go into the woods. There are so many beautiful things about us and our planet, sometimes amongst the chaos of the working world and all of the stressors we deal with.. It helps to find an outlet and with photography you can add your own filters, editing, and make it your own. Everyone needs to do at least one thing they love and you don't need all the publicity and fancy equipment to make that happen! Although equipment can help a lot :)
