As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I thought 'Casa Loma'??? love your processing!!! I have not been there since I was a child. My Dad owns a clock that was given to him by a Jeweler who had bought it. It was originally form Casa Loma, a beautiful Regulator. I love to sit and just listen to it tick. The man sold it to my Dad for $1.00. My Dad fixes and makes parts for old clocks. Dad's friend knew Dad would take care of it and love it - not just let it be a showpiece on his wall. The man knew he could have gotten thousands for it, but chose my Dad. The inside of Casa Loma is as interesting and beautiful as the outside!!! The winding staircase to the Turret always terrified me as a child, but I always climbed it!

Location
I took this photo at Casa Loma also called "House on the Hill" in Toronto, Ontario. It was built over a period of three years from 1911-1914 and cost $3.5M to build.Time
I captured this photograph at approximately 2:00 p.m. in natural lighting.Lighting
No flash was required on this photograph as on this particular day it was a beautiful warm sunny day and the natural lighting outside was perfect!Equipment
I used my Canon camera which was hand held. I do not believe you do not need to have an expensive camera to capture a beautiful photograph. I feel strongly that cameras do not take the photograph but photographers do.Inspiration
I was inspired and intrigued by the old architecture and the history behind Casa Loma also referred to as the "House on the Hill". The castle paid homage to the castles and knights of days gone by. It has secret passageways in the house and underground pathways to the stables, garage and garden. To this day it remains one of the only true castles in North America. There are stories of spooky tales of strange noises, voices, apparitions and invisible grabbing hands. Tourists and staff have often reported episodes of haunting. There is a lady in white which seems to be the most popular of the ghosts and who is believed to be a maid who worked at Casa Loma in the early 1900s. Also, a military secret lurked in the stables during World War II. German U-boats threatened shipping services between Britain and North America so when Britain’s ASDIC-producing plant (where they made machinery to detect submarines by their reflection of sound waves) was bombed by German planes, they needed another location which was Casa Loma. They use the stables and put a sign outside saying “Construction in Progress – sorry for the inconvenience” by doing this they shielded a major military action which was not discovered until decades later. Not even Toronto city councillors knew of this. Just knowing some of the history behind this castle is memorizing. You cannot help but feel the history of this castle and all its secrets!Editing
The processing I did was add a texture and a moon png and turned the photograph into black and white. In my camera bag
In my camera bag I carry my Canon camera, extra batteries, various filters, lens filter cleaner and extra memory cards.Feedback
I strongly believe that every photograph tells a story, so make your photograph tell a story. Photography changes the way you see things. You notice colours, textures, people, nature … everything around you looks different when you start to see the world through a lens. Have fun and enjoy doing what you love doing, which is taking photographs. Don’t follow your dreams … chase them!
