A Grey Wolf photographed near Canada border North of Ely, MN. I had been photographing landscapes all day, walked upon a small pond and noticed the wolf drinking water. I was so excited, I took the shot and realized that my shutter was remaining open for several seconds, so I panned following the wolf and this is the result!

Time

In the morning around 10am

Lighting

Partly cloudy day with rain during the night

Equipment

Sony A900, 70-200mm f/2.8, Handheld,

Inspiration

Out shooting landscapes most of the morning, came upon a small pond in the clearing and saw the grey wolf standing at the other end drinking water. She saw me and starred for a few seconds and then started drinking water again. I was so surprised, that I just aimed my camera and hit the shutter button. Forgetting that I had the camera set up for landscape with a shutter speed of several seconds. As soon as I had realized this, I started panning and following the wolf waiting for the shutter to close which seemed like several minutes. I tried to quickly change the setting, but it was too late, she had disappeared.

Editing

Shot the image in RAW, so I used Camera RAW corrections only

In my camera bag

Sony A900 camera, 20mm, 50mm, 105mm Macro, 70-200mm lenses, Tripod, PL Filter, remote shutter release,
