Behind The Lens

Location

This image was captured at the top of the lift in giant steps at Brian head resort in UT

Time

I captured this around 1pm

Lighting

The lighting was so harsh so I decided to make the sun into a subject itself by giving it some streaking rays vs having it just be a white blob in the sky

Equipment

I'm using the canon t5i with the tokina 11-16 2.8 handheld

Inspiration

The dramatic snowscape mixed with the blazing sun was just interesting to me, so I wanted to capture this hott and cold dynamic in the image.

Editing

The only post processing was some minor adjustments to exposure, shadows, and white balance

In my camera bag

Normally I carry the t5i , the tokina 11-16, the Tamron 17-50 and a sigma 50 prime

Feedback

The hardest part about capturing an image like this is to remember to boost you ISO very high because you have to stop your aperture down to f9-15 depending on what shape you want the sun.
