It was only a mile to get to Elowah Falls, but hiking through the dark, icy, snowy trail made it feel much longer. Our headlamps barely cut through the snow and illuminated the rivers of ice that had once been water running off the cliffs next to us. Eventually we started to hear water, motivational and a little scary all at once, since we couldn't see a thing around us. As the dark lifted and daylight arrived, we came around a corner and saw the beautiful Elowah Falls, surrounded by ice and snow, roaring into the river below. I'll never forget the moment we laid eyes on it!
