The bridge, one of only a handful of it's type in the world, was built to carry workers to the thriving shipyards and dock of the River Tees. It has recently been renovated , it's surroundings, Victorian redbrick factories and warehouses have been reduced to rubble. I took this chance to photograph history being destroyed. Today the bridge is surrounded by car parking, sapling trees and patches of grass, it looks wrong, it looks lonely. I am so glad I visited in time to catch a last image of the redbricks especially as they echoed the shape of the bridge.

Our local photographic club held a still life night using domestic lights, torches, candles.... it was an interesting exercise.

Wildflower.

No longer found wild local authorities are sowing 'wild flower' seeds on roadside and re introducing the cornflower to the countryside.

A low early morning sun casts the bee's shadow on the petals of the poppy as it 'lifts off' backwards after collecting pollen.

Another plant that loves the wooded riverside which is my inspiration.

Crude stage lighting and a black curtain at the local village hall made for harsh shadow and difficult exposure so I used spot metering on the face

These flowers grow neglected in a local orchard I used a low viewpoint to get the trees and sky to form a complimentary background
