Behind The Lens

Location

I was wondering the Saturday Market in Portland, Oregon. I often find myself riding my bike so that i can stop whenever i see great lighting.

Time

I'm always looking for great natural lighting. Although it didn't rain that morning, you could sense that it might, and with heavy, intermittent cloud cover, the lighting was very dramatic and soft as i strolled past one of the Nepalese vendors at the market.

Lighting

Lighting is like pornography. You just know it when you see it.

Equipment

Canon 5d Mrk 2. Shot backhand as I stealthfuly captured the rich colors of the booth.

Inspiration

Lighting inspires me more than the subject.

Editing

Yes, I develop all my photos to have deep rich and vibrant print qualities on canvas.

In my camera bag

my 5d mark 2 a 50mm 1.4 prime and a 24mm 1.4 prime. Thats it. I take my camera everywhere so I really like my gear light and easy to carry in a backpack or dry bag.

Feedback

Use prime lenses to train your eye to the framing of a shot. the hardest part of photography is knowing which ones speak to other people - not just ones you like or are subjective to. Also, you can't take good pictures with just your camera, you need to sync it with your brain so that you have an idea to the end result before you shoot.
