Canon EOS Rebel t5i; standard kit lens, 18-55 mm; tripod for 3 bracketed exposures (-2, 0, +2).Inspiration
I was looking for dramatic clouds and happened upon this lifeguard station house. The structure is not that remarkable but its isolation makes it more dramatic, and makes its textures stand out. Setting up for down the middle symmetry made the structure appear very important.Editing
I used HDR software on the bracketed exposures to dramatize the building's textures but masked out most of the HDR effect in the clouds, so their softness would contrast with the building. In my camera bag
To be honest I dream of a professional level camera and better quality lenses, including an ultra wide lens for landscapes, but what I have is fine for learning. I have a 50 mm prime for portraits, which I love, and a 100 mm macro for jewelry and gemstones.Feedback
Since we can't always be in places of huge visual drama, look for the dramatic in ordinary places.
