Location
I took this in a church at my friend's harp recital.Time
It was a very dark, dreary January evening.Lighting
I don't like using a flash, so all I could do was crank up the ISO and use as large an f-stop as possible and hope for the best.Equipment
I used a Nikon D5100 and Sigma's 17-70 f2.8-4 contemporary lens.Inspiration
I've always been fascinated by the rows and rows of pins on stringed instruments like harps and pianos. Fortunately, I planned the shot from my seat, because I didn't have much time once I had a chance to take it. It was the only one I managed to get before someone showed up with a movie camera to film my friend.Editing
Since the original picture was pretty dark, I lightened it a bit in Photoshop Elements. In my camera bag
I don't carry a bag. I have health problems, so I have to go as light as possible. Generally I carry either a Sigma 70-300, or my Sigma 17-70 with my D5100.Feedback
Trying to take pictures in dark environments isn't recommended, but if you have to, use a tripod, or, better yet, get a nice 'fast' prime lens that lets in a lot of light.
