Location
In my front yard, at my family's country home in Southwestern Minnesota.Time
At sunset-probably around 4:30-5:00.Lighting
I pulled into the driveway with my mom after work one day and the light from the sunset was stunning. I was so mesmerized by it I didn't even help my mom bring groceries inside in my haste to grab my camera.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T3i and the lens it came with to take the picture.Inspiration
Just the beautiful winter evening and how wonderfully the light and trees framed everything.Editing
I brought the colors out, made it a little less blue as most winter pictures are prone to be, and I lightened a few of my shadows. In my camera bag
My camera, a Manfrotto tripod, a longer lens (for my portraits) and a remote to set off my camera from a distance.Feedback
Watch your sunsets! When that time of day rolls around, make sure your camera is charged and ready. Experiment with different locations and find cool places to frame the sunset. Sunsets are pretty, but the surroundings always add that special element to it. If it's darker out, try to use your tripod and a lower ISO so that your picture won't turn out grainy. Anything higher than 400 starts to add grain. And above all, have fun!
